Abstract

The major changes of the last three decades – globalization, financialization and digitalization – have re-shaped society. Inevitably these changes have impacted on the organized professions and professional firms. Extant research documents how some professions have been de-professionalized, others have been adept at resisting change, while some have hybridised bringing together different logics.  Similarly, the last three decades have seen the emergence of new forms of expertise laying claim to professional status; it has also seen professions grappling with the pressures of globalization. This workshop will discuss and assess the changes that have taken place in the organized professions and professional firms over the last three decades.
